I made my sister a serving tray for Christmas, and it was so easy! I had to make more! I just made two more and I completely love them. To do two of them it probably only costed $20! Tell me where you can buy a decent serving tray for only $20, because I sure the heck couldn't. And here's how I did it:
A piece of wood ( I got a piece that was about 1 foot by 4 feet)
Chalk board spray paint
Cut wood in half (if applicable)
Sand edges and all surfaces of the pieces of wood.
Make sure you have your surface covered.....then begin to stain. I stain it pretty thick and evenly going with the brush strokes of the wood. I used a old rag to wipe off the access stain to give it a fun washed out look.
Let sit for a day or two....you don't want to get wet stain all over the house.
Step five: Tape off the area for the chalk board paint, and spray evenly and semi-thick.....again let sit for a day or two depending on how warm it is.
Step six: Remove tape and add handles.
Step seven: Give as a give or enjoy for yourself!
I'm going to be experimenting with new designs soon :) so stay tuned to my instagram!
